Tax Manager

Axiom CPAs is a local Firm in Albuquerque, NM that provides tax preparation, financial attestation, and state and local tax services. The firm has approximately 20 employees and growing. Axiom has a need for an experienced Tax Manager. This individual will be responsible for performing a variety of tax work, including tax compliance and planning with heavy client interaction. This individual will not only be expected to perform at a high level in regard to the technical abilities expected at this level, but should have the necessary skills to help develop other staff that may be new to the firm.

Tax Responsibilities:

• Occasional preparation and heavy review of individual and business tax returns.
• Ability to complete tax returns which includes ensuring that workpapers have proper documentation as to purpose and conclusions; workpapers are complete, accurate and signed off; and the tax returns are complete and ready to be presented to the client; and developing and mentoring staff preparing the returns during the process.
• Ability to research, understand and apply common tax issues, rules and methods that arise.
• Ability to meet and discuss tax return information with our clients in a professional and efficient manner.

Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
• Strong work ethic to get through our busy periods is also a must.
• Candidate should have the ability to interact with clients, prospects, all levels of staff, and colleagues in a professional fashion.
• Licensed CPA or candidate must meet 150 hour requirement for CPA eligibility.
• Minimum of 5 years of public accounting tax experience and 3 years at the Senior level.
• Strong desire to continuously learn.
• CCH Axcess Tax and related software experience a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership/supervisor experience.
• Competently analyzes and prioritizes information to make appropriate recommendations.
• Ability to synthesize all forms of research into clear, thoughtful, actionable deliverables.
• Understands client needs, identifies root causes of problems, and implements pragmatic solutions.
